Uncle Charlie’s is a passion project for father-and-daughter duo Charlie and Taryn Grows. Charlie Grows, a retired firefighter, shares the same passion for good beer and friendly community gatherings with his daughter Taryn, who has built a career in communications and marketing and is also an active member of the Sacramento Metro Chamber of Commerce.

Uncle Charlie’s is located inside Folsom’s historic district at 905 Leidesdorff Street. The brewhouse The business describes itself as “just an old guy & his daughter with a dream to build a beer sanctuary for the beer enthusiast- Join us as we catalogue our BEERventures of Homebrewing” on its Facebook page. The brewhouse will renovate a 3,322-square-foot space with a 1952 Van Pelt fire engine as its centerpiece.

While the brewhouse is a new concept, many Sacramento beer lovers are already familiar with the initials “UCFB” as Uncle Charlie has been producing delicious beers for over a decade, even winning 3rd place state honors in 2013 with the Kona Coffee Porter. Meanwhile, Taryn Grows spent her past decade navigating the business world, learning everything that equipped her to become her father’s business partner in building the brick-and-mortar brewhouse.
