Urban Plates positions itself as a chef-driven fast-casual restaurant chain with the goal of making delicious, wholesome, and clean food accessible to all. The San Diego-based chain was founded in 2011 by industry veterans Saad Nadhir and John Zagara. The brand currently has 22 locations, with 14 of those being in Southern California. In 2020, Urban Plates received capital from Goldman Sachs to expand into Northern California, Washington DC, Illinois, and New York with a target of 40 restaurants.

Unlike many other fast-casual chains, Urban Plates focuses on scratch-made plates with an emphasis on healthy, balanced, and nutritious ingredients. By the time of this coverage, Nadhir had not responded to What Now Sacramento‘s request for comments.

Other confirmed food tenant coming to The Davis Collection includes Mendocino Farms and The Melt. The Davis Collection has also announced local tenants, including The Old Teahouse and Good Friends Hawaiian Poke. Construction is anticipated to be completed around mid-2025.
